Thousands of people packed Goldstream Avenue on Sunday, June 24 for the City of Langford's inaugural "Welcome to Summer Show and Shine." People of all ages took in a dazzling display of classic cars, vintage vehicles and custom rides. About 80 vehicles were on display, including a couple of super customized motorcycles that drew a crowd around the fountain at Bryn Maur Road.
Langford Mayor Stew Young said the Show and Shine and the second annual Fountain Classic Cruise on August 12 are the kind of free, family-oriented events Council envisioned when they made the improvements to Goldstream Avenue that included more bike lanes, the fountain, arch, flowers, palm trees, plantings, benches and information kiosks.
"Goldstream Village has become a popular gathering place for people to enjoy the improvements we have made," Mayor Young said." "The crowds that come out for family events like the car shows, Goldstream Station Market and Music in the Park says a lot about the pride people share in our community."
