Park Improvements Moving Forward

Improvements to Glen Lake Beach Park are on schedule, and should be completed by the end of October. Work includes installing the children's playground from Glen Lake elementary school,, which has been closed for the past few years. The equipment was donated by the Sooke School District.

Other improvements include upgrading beach access, providing an open space play area for children, substantial landscaping, and connecting existing trails to the park.

Mayor Stew Young said the improvements will make the popular park more accessible and family friendly. "It's a beautiful spot, and easily accessible for people using our cycling and pedestrian trails,"
Mayor Young noted.

Councillor Lanny Seaton, chair of Langford's Parks and Recreation committee, said Glen Lake Beach Park has been under-utilized in the past, especially considering how nice it is. "I'm sure it will become a truly special spot for more families to enjoy once the work is completed," Seaton said. The improvements, which cost about $450,000, were made possible through a partnership grant between the City of Langford and the Provincial Government.
