Thousands of Langford residents and people from throughout the West Shore stood in the rain in Veterans Memorial Park to pay their respects to Veterans on November 11. A colour party from the Prince Edward Branch of the Royal Canadian Legion led the Remembrance Day parade, which included Veterans, members of the West Shore RCMP in red Serge, members of the Canadian Forces and Army, Navy and Air Cadets.

Mayor Stew Young joined other West Shore mayors and dignitaries in laying a wreath on behalf of the City of Langford. Mayor Young said it was impressive to see such a large turnout, especially the number of young people in the crowd.

"It is important for all of us to pay our respects and acknowledge the brave men and women who sacrificed their lives defending our country to preserve the freedom we all enjoy today," Mayor Young said.
