A colour party from the Prince Edward Branch of the Royal Canadian Legion launched the annual poppy campaign on Friday, October 28 with a flag-raising ceremony at Langford City Hall. Members of Langford City staff joined acting Mayor Winnie Sifert and Councillor Denise Blackwell in the ceremony to pay their respects to the brave men and women who gave their lives to protect the freedom and quality of life all Canadians enjoy today.
"It's important to recognize the great work the Legion does in helping veterans with the money raised during the poppy campaign, and the good work the Legion does in our community throughout the year," Councillor Sifert said.
