Hundreds of Langford residents and visitors from throughout the region packed Veterans Memorial Park on Saturday, Dec. 3 for the fifth annual Light Up Festival. The West Shore Community Band and Colwood Choir filled the air with festive tunes while the crowd enjoyed free hot dogs and hot chocolate, courtesy of the City. Cliff LeQuesne from The Q FM kept the event moving along until Langford Councillor Matt Sahlstrom invited members of Langford Council and Santa to lead the countdown for the official lighting of the giant Christmas tree. Many people stayed around and lined Goldstream Avenue and Veterans Memorial Parkway for the Island Equipment Owners Association Big Truck parade. Volunteers from Langford City staff and Langford Fire Rescue helped make the event a success, and collected six shopping carts of food and $170 for the Goldstream Food Bank.
