The City of Langford uses innovative technologies to increase the efficiency of our staff and reduce wasteful mountains of paper documents. The Information Technology (IT) Department consists of two distinct sections working together to support the City's internal information systems. The role of the IT Department is to help City Hall operate more efficiently through effective use of technology. Information Technology gives an organization such as the City of Langford a competitive advantage by providing staff with quick access to quality information.
Information Technology (IT)
The core IT staff is responsible for all computer hardware technology, line of business software applications and corporate database systems. They also act as "IT Consultants" to help internal staff make the best use of technology through educating all staff members on the new and advanced technologies and programs used by City as soon as they are acquired.
IT consists of the IT Manager, two Application Developers, a Network Administrator, and a Client Specialist.
Geographic Information Systems (GIS)
The City of Langford's GIS Department manages the creation and maintenance of the City's corporate geographical information. Geography forms the foundation for all municipal information by tying a variety of activities together by where they occur. This integrated approach to data allows City staff and residents to make big picture decisions and express them visually.
GIS consist of the GIS Coordinator and two GIS Technologists.
