Campfires

You must have a permit to have a campfire.

To obtain permission you must contact Langford Fire Rescue at 250-478-9555.

General Guidelines for Campfires.

  • shall be no larger than 2 feet square or 2 feet in diameter.
  • may be in a ground pit, or an above ground container made of non-combustible material (metal container, brick, cement, etc), or an open ground of mineral soil, gravel or sand.
  • must be supervised at all times by a person 19 years of age or older.
  • are not to be lit during high winds.
  • shall not be used to burn household refuse, plastics, rubber, asphalt shingles, construction or demolition waste or similar materials.
  • A garden hose or reasonable means to control the fire is to be readily available while the campfire is lit.
  • Clearances for campfires shall be 20 feet (6m) from any building, 10 feet (3m) from any shrubbery, wooden fences or over hanging trees. The fire must be completely extinguished upon abandoning the fire, and not later than Midnight (00:00 hrs).
