Burning Information
Open Burning
The following regulations and guidelines apply within the City of Langford.
- No burning from May through to the end of September due to the dry conditions this year.
- No burning from sunset through to sunrise.
- Only leaves and tree trimmings are acceptable.
- No burning of any wet garbage, organic waste, plastic, rubber, asphalt shingles, or any similar materials.
- No burning on any street, land or boulevard allowance.
- The burning of debris resulting from logging, land clearing, construction, demolition, and/or businesses shall be prohibited at all times.
- A person that lights any fire must have a responsible person in constant supervision, and ensure that equipment necessary for control of the fire is readily available.
- Clearances from both open air and incinerator fires:
- from buildings 20 feet (6m)
- from shrubbery and wooden fences 10 feet (3m)
