The City contracts CRD Animal Services for enforcement of the Animal Bylaw [PDF - 925 KB]. The Langford Animal Control Officer can be reached by calling (250) 478-0624. Dogs can pose a public safety risk and must be on the property of their owner unless they are under effective control by someone. In playgrounds and on beaches dogs must be leashed, and dogs are completely prohibited from all City sport facilities and beaches in summer. Council recently introduced a “poop scoop” requirement applying to all lands.
Other problems addressed by the Animal Bylaw include excessive barking, feces in back yards, insufficient animal care, kennels, and licensing.Go to Top
