Building
The primary function and responsibility of City of Langford's Building Department is to administer and enforce the BC Building Code and City of Langford Building and Plumbing Bylaw 1160.
The Building Department is also one of the first departments that prospective Langford business owners and entrepreneurs encounter. The department issues building permits, conducts any and all required building inspections and is responsible for issuing business licences in the City of Langford.
In addition to building duties, the department also processes Board of Variance issues, and prepares applications, agendas and minutes for such meetings. A member of the Building Department also acts as the secretary to the Board.
The City's Building Department consists of a Building Inspection Manager, a Senior Building Inspector, a Building Inspector, and two secretaries, all of whom are more than willing to offer one-on-one consultation in person at City Hall or by phone.
Building Permits
One of the chief responsibilities of the Building Department is the issuance of Building Permits.
Every owner shall obtain all required permits or approvals, pay all fees and provide all deposits prior to the commencement of work. Permit applications are to be submitted to the City of Langford's Building Department. General guidelines are available when you apply for a permit.
