Luxton Pro Rodeo
The bronco bucks hard. Can the rider stay on and subdue the wild stallion? Later, can he lasso the racing steer and wrestle the beast to a halt? This is the Luxton Pro Rodeo, Vancouver Island's last remaining rodeo, and it is only in Langford.
The hugely popular Luxton Pro Rodeo at the Luxton Fairgrounds in Langford combines the excitement of a Wild West test of endurance and skill foreign to the urban dweller with carnival rides, an antique car show, live music, blacksmith demonstrations, and vendors. Kids can try the cowboy lifestyle by Mutton Bustin': strap a helmet on their little heads and make sure they have a tight grip on a wooly sheep.
Luxton Pro Rodeo began in 1975 and has been going strong ever since. Supported by volunteers and the City of Langford, the Rodeo is one of Langford's main spring events.
